William (Bill) Mathew Hart

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Mathew Hart on July 14, 2023 at
the age of 66. He was a long-time resident of both Slidell and Mandeville, LA. Son of Raymond (Jack) J.
Hart and Dorothy G. Hart. Nephew of Warren Hart.
He is survived by his ex-wife Rose, stepson Jeremy Culpepper, and step grandson Jacob. He leaves
behind his siblings Terrence Hart, Leonard Hart, Elizabeth (Betty) Rice, David Hart, Sheila Hart, and
Christopher (Chris) Hart.
He was a beloved friend to Susan and Tommy Dechara and loved to go on fishing trips with Tommy, his
best friend.
He was also close friends with Sandra Smith and her son Monty.
He worked as a licensed electrician at Pendleton Memorial Methodist Hospital before and during
Hurricane Katrina. He helped keep the hospital generators working to supply life-saving electricity to
patients and doctors during this traumatic disaster. He would always take it upon himself to help
others. After Pendleton closed its operations in New Orleans East, he worked as a Master Electrician for
the University of New Orleans until his retirement. Right to the end, he was a consummate
maintenance man who always wanted to fix things and make everything better for others.
