Wayne Harry Raborn

October 9, 1959 — March 7, 2025

Covington, Louisiana

Wayne Harry Raborn died on Friday, March 7, 2025, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington at the age of 65. He was born in Bogalusa, Louisiana and moved to Covington, Louisiana upon his marriage to Karen Caston Raborn. He was a member of Landmark Church of God and served as the Worship Leader for many years. He worked at Winn Dixie for over 20 years and then transitioned to Lee Road Jr High School as a Paraprofessional, where he served as a disciplinarian and coached various sports. He used both of those roles to mentor kids and help them to better themselves. In the same way, his life’s ambition was to help people be the best version of themselves so they could go on to help others.

Wayne’s love of music was a constant throughout his life. Whether it was his garage band gigs, countless jam sessions, porch cool-outs, Mama’s Family blue grass, leading worship, or a ukulele in a hospital bed-- he played music every chance he got. He used this passion in worshiping the Lord. He also took time and great joy in cultivating the talent of young people to learn guitar, bass, piano, drums, and singing-- all to the glory of God. In addition to collecting instruments, Wayne was a collector of comic books, stamps, baseball cards, action figures, and other things from his childhood. Through this he was a wealth of knowledge and many called him “the walking encyclopedia.” But above all, Wayne was a collector of people. If you knew Wayne, you were a blessed person. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched

Wayne embodied and was a living example of the scripture “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Karen Raborn. As well as his daughter Stephanie Raborn Cain, who is married to Ryan Cain, and his two grandchildren, Riley and Bethel, who were the love of his life. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, W.F. “Billy” and Wilma Raborn. Funeral services will be held at Landmark Church of God on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. There will be a visitation time from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM and the service will begin at 11:00 AM. After the service, the burial will take place at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Bogalusa, Louisiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in his honor to Limbs for Life, a non-profit organization that provides prosthetics and support to people who may not be able to afford them so they can live richer lives.
