Virginia Ann Raines (nee Wertz) (February 7, 1936 – January 23, 2023). On January 23, 2023, Heaven welcomed a great woman that will be missed by her family and friends. Our much-loved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister and Friend passed away in Round Rock, Texas at the age of 86. She was the beloved wife of the late Sidney David Raines and Mother to children, David Raines (Vivian), Lori Kraus (Erich), Daniel Raines (Sheelyn) and stepdaughter Hazel Wolfe (Michael). She is survived by her Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. She was Grandma to 6 grandchildren, Brandon, Brad, Dane, Derek, Devin and Perry and 6 great-grandchildren, Peyton, Dylan, Brennan, Kylo, Link (Our Sweet Angel in Heaven), and Tank. Virginia was a native of Valentine, Nebraska and a resident of Lumberton, Mississippi. She ran a home day care center in Metairie, Louisiana for many years, while also raising her own children. Crafting, gardening and her love for animals kept her busy in her spare time. Virginia was feisty, quick witted and could be counted on for a quick laugh. It was common to see her in the yard doing her gardening, keeping Sidney in line and feeding the neighborhood stray dogs and cats. Preceded in death by her husband Sidney, father, Walter Wertz and mother, Mae (Peters) Wertz; brother and sisters; George Wertz, Marie Drake, Marge Vance, and Ellie Farwell, son-in-law Erich Kraus and great-grand son Link. The family will have a service on January 31, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Reed-Raines Memorial Garden, 27115 Hwy 40 Folsom La. 70437. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Reed-Raines Memorial Garden in memory of Virginia Raines: Reed-Raines Memorial Garden c/o Nola R. Homer/Smith, 80020 Woodland Drive, Bush, LA 70431.
