Vincenzo Carnovale

d. July 28, 2020

Vincenzo Carnovale passed away peacefully after a short illness on July 28th surrounded by his loving family. He exuded love and kindness throughout his short illness and shared so many tender moments with those who loved him. His family called him Jimmy, Dad and Papa. He was Mr. Vince to his friends in his adopted home of Louisiana. Jimmy was born in Calabria, Italy and came to the US with his family when he was 5 years old. He was the son of Eulalia and Salvatore Carnovale. Raised in Revere Massachusetts, Jimmy was a proud member of the large Italian-American hard-working community there. Providing for his family and helping those he loved create a good life in the US was his life’s work.

Jimmy was the loving husband of Dawn Marie Carnovale (nee Doucette) originally from Malden Massachusetts and the loving father of Vincent Carnovale, Gregory Carnovale and Jeannette Carnovale. He was a very adoring Papa to Sophia, Audrey and Eli Carnovale.

Jimmy loved his family. His family always came first to him. Family and friends always mentioned how generous he was. His first response was always “how can I help?” or “what do you need?” Every family member and all of his children’s friends have a story about how Mr. Vince helped them in some way. He was a proud U.S. Marine. He carried lessons from his time serving his country throughout his life. He shared many stories and important lessons learned with his children throughout their lives. Jimmy will be missed by so many people. In addition to his wife, children and grandchildren, he leaves behind sisters Elena Brown, Rina Lugar, Susan Reardon and brothers Mario, Frank and Steven Carnovale. Jimmy was predeceased by his older brother Anthony Carnovale. He has dozens of loving nieces and nephew and so many loving in-laws.  The family will hold a private vigil in his honor.  In Jimmy’s honor, the family simply asks everyone to remember to practice generosity, kindness, and forgiveness, the three qualities Jimmy modeled throughout his life. He will be missed dearly.
