Thomas James Owens Jr., 44 years old, of Covington La, went to Heaven June 9, 2020. Jamie was born May 27, 1976, in Mobile, AL, to Mary and Thomas Owens Sr. Jamie pursued and achieved a bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts with a minor in Graphic Design from Southeastern Louisiana University. He incorporated his love for art into his career choice, and as a result, many business and event signs in and around the Covington area were designed and created by Jamie. His most recent job title was Graphic Designer at Jim Carey Distribution Center. Jamie not only loved art, but was the true definition of an artist himself. It was seen in his music, mosaics, paintings, and even the design of his custom home; his creative and original soul was always reflected in his handiwork. He won the “Most Unique Work” in 2013 at the New Orleans Jazz Festival and was the highlighted artist to create the poster for the Bicentennial Three Rivers Art Festival. Jamie was an authentic friend to those that he came in contact with in life. His likability was not only treasured by his family and friends, but even the strangers that would stop to chat with him at his art booths. He truly was a kind and gentle soul. He is survived by the love of his life, Rachael Clarke Owens, and their two lovely daughters, Sage Hollen Owens and Sable Cora Owens; his parents, Mary and Thomas Owens Sr.; his sister Jennifer Blucas; her husband Christopher Blucas; and their children Kaiya, Ashton, and Ethan Blucas. In lieu of flowers, his family is requesting donations to local non-profit www.scottswish.org to ease financial burdens for his family.
