Sylvia Barbier Sandman, a cherished homemaker and beloved member of her family, left this world on December 16, 2024, in Covington, Louisiana, at the age of 87. Born on December 6, 1937, in Thibodaux, Louisiana, Sylvia graced the lives of many with her warm spirit.
Her love for God guided her throughout her life, providing her with strength and comfort. She had a deep passion for gardening, where she found joy in caring for plants and watching them grow. Sylvia loved to visit with family and friends, always making time for those she held dear. She delighted in enjoying frappuccinos and cherished the thrill of treasure hunting at garage sales, where she often found hidden gems to share with her loved ones.
Sylvia's legacy continues through her loving family. She is survived by her daughter, Beth S. O'Flarity and her husband Phil; her sons, Artie Sandman Jr. and his wife Tressa, Vince Sandman (Matt) , Tod Sandman and his wife Lori, Paul Sandman and his wife Heather, and Tim Sandman and his wife Claire. Sylvia was also a proud grandmother to 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Although Sylvia's presence will be deeply missed, she is now reunited in peace with her late husband Deacon Arthur Sandman, Sr., her father Howard Barbier, her mother Isabelle Ledet Barbier, and her brother Joey Barbier.
A memorial service in honor of Sylvia will be held on January 4, 2025, at The Tabernacle Church in Covington, Louisiana, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Sylvia will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
