Suzanne Dutel Jackson died February 22, 2023, after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 67. Born December 19, 1955, in New Orleans, LA, she was the daughter of the late Louis G. Dutel, Jr., and Nellie Northcutt Dutel. Sue, as she loved to be called, was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy in New Orleans in 1974. She went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Louisiana State University and was a member of Phi Mu sorority.
Formerly residing in Cumming, GA, Sue operated her own successful real estate appraisal business. Prior to that, she worked with her father at Dutel Title Agency. She went on to a lengthy career with First American Title Insurance Company, in both the New Orleans and Atlanta offices as a Marketing Rep, helping to facilitate the buying and selling of real estate, a position she was very passionate about. She also worked with her brother, William J. Dutel, at
the Dutel Law Firm. Sue had an infectious laugh and lovable personality. She enjoyed riding and showing American
Saddlebred horses, a family hobby. In addition, she loved traveling, cooking, gardening, painting, and reading. She had a deep love for the water and spent much of her free time fishing, boating and at the beach in Florida‘s panhandle. Sue is survived by her daughter, Abby (Ross) Ulowetz of Austin, TX, and her son, Kyle D. Jackson of New Orleans. Also survived by her sister, Jeanne Dutel of Pittsburgh, PA and three brothers, William J. (Victoria), Thomas A. (Yolande), and Louis G.Dutel, III (Danie), all of Covington, LA. She leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, special friends and relatives.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Reverend Patrick Williams at St. Pius X
Church, 6666 Spanish Fort Blvd., New Orleans on Saturday, March 11 at 10 a.m. Visitation will
take place in the church beginning at 9 a.m. A Celebration of Life gathering to follow Mass.
Interment will be private in Metairie Cemetery.
