Shirley Mae Lightner

Shirley Mae Hoover Lightner passed away on Wednesday,  May 31, 2017, surrounded by her family.  Born at home in Lee’s Landing, LA, on January 6, 1928, she was a resident of Chalmette, LA, since 1953 and a resident of Ponchatoula, LA, since Katrina in 2005.  .  Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of almost 67 years, Allen Lightner; her parents, Victor Emanuel Hoover and Ada Perkins Hoover; her brothers, Frank, Lester and Victor Kenneth Hoover and son-in-law Steven Wolfe.  Shirley is survived by her daughter Sherry Lightner Wolfe, of Slidell, LA, grandson LTC Matthew Steven Wolfe, U.S. Army, his wife Lauren, currently residing in Norfolk, VA, and granddaughter Shanna Leigh Wolfe of Slidell, LA.  She is also survived by her great granddaughter, Katherine Joan Wolfe; cousin Edlena Vinyard Wattigney and husband, Dale; sister-in-law Maxine Jenkins Hoover and nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Thursday, June 29, 2017, 11 a.m., at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Slidell, LA.  Dr. David Cranford, Pastor of First Baptist Church, Ponchatoula, LA, will be officiating the service.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to North Oaks Hospice, P. O. Box 2668, Hammond, LA 70404.
