Shirley Vaughn (Jenkins)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Our Beautiful Beloved Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great-Great Grandmother, Aunt and Dear Friend…

Shirley Elaine Vaughn (Jenkins) Shirley was born and raised in Covington, La and a Native of Pearl River La. She passed peacefully at the age of 80, surrounded with loved ones at her bedside. She was born April 8, 1942 and was called home to be with our Heavenly Father on September 12, 2022.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Jenkins and Dorothy Jenkins (Rogers), and her son Melvin (Robbie) Swaggerty, three of her siblings, Geneva Jenkins, Phillip Jenkins and Geraldine Hardy (Jenkins)

Shirley is survived by her two sons, Gregory (Greg) Vaughn (Shanon), Ronnie Vaughn (Mary) and her three daughters, Tammy Discon (Mark), Angela Swaggerty and Peggy Price, as well as four sisters, Ruth Ussery (Jack,) Anita Leonard (Jerry), Barbara Polezcek (Robert) and Dottie Galladora.

She was always a “Ray of Sunshine” to everyone that she met.  Shirley was a housewife and spending time with her friends and family members was the joy of her life. She loved reading altogether, but mostly reading her Bible, working her Seek & Find puzzle books and making silk flower arrangements.

She has 14 Grandchildren, Ronnie Vaughn (Melissa), Kenley Vaughn (Alena), Scott Vivien, Gabriella Vivien, Johnny Ellison (Kristy), Chad Ellison (Chassidy), Matthew Discon (Indy), Hannah Discon Pigott (Trevor), Tony Bennett, (deceased), William L. Swaggerty (deceased), Earl (Ray) Swaggerty, William (Billy) Hardy, Jr., (Lindy), Gidgett Hardy Vandelinde, and BJ Hardy, as well as 24 Great Grandchildren and 7 Great-Great Grandchildren along with many, many nieces and nephews. She was dearly loved and will be so greatly missed by ALL!

Family and Friends are invited to join us on September 17, 2022 at 1:00pm-3:00pm for funeral services at Bagnell and Son Funeral Home located at 75212 Hwy 437, Covington, LA 70435. 3:00pm-4:00pm will begin Memorial Service and Internment will follow at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery. There will also be a “Celebration Of Life” following at 79193 UF Keating Rd, Covington, La 70435
