It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Sandra Mix Hill who went on to eternal life on June 7, 2016. Sandra was born on July 14, 1946, in New Orleans, LA, as the daughter of the late George and Miriam Mix. As a student at St. Raphael Grammar School, she enjoyed being part of the Brownies and Girl Scouts to help others. As she went on to Annunciation High School she became part of the student choir excelling at sharing her voice with others. After a brief time with Schwegmann’s Groceries in bookkeeping, she moved on to the Times Picayune News where she worked until she retired in 2006 after 40 years of service. Sandra’s love of music kept her participating in her church choirs in every parish she attended. She also sang with JPAS, volunteered at Lakeside Hospital and the Samaritan Center Food Bank. Sandra married Charles Hill in 1974 and they lived together happily until her passing. Sandra is survived by her husband, Charles Hill, her sister, Janice Garic, and her brothers, Thomas Mix and Donald Mix. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Hospice House of Slidell and the Hospice Foundation for their loving care and support. On Friday, June 10th at 7:30 A.M. a Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte St., Mandeville, LA, followed by a graveside service at St. Joseph Abbey, 75376 River Rd., St. Benedict, LA.
