Samuel (Sammy) Marcello, Sr.

Samuel (Sammy) Joseph Marcello, Sr., 56, passed away Tuesday, July 14th, 2020, after a year of battling cancer. He passed peacefully in his home surrounded by family. A life-long native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Sammy was passionate about cooking and spending time with loved ones. He was the Executive Chef at Notre Dame Seminary, and spent his career serving others through his love for food.

Sammy was the son of the late Joseph Paul Marcello, Jr., and Anastasia Cuccia Marcello; In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Joseph (Joey) Paul Marcello III.

He is survived by his loving wife Darlene Jarreau Marcello, his son, Samuel Joseph Marcello, Jr., his sister, Louise Marcello, his niece, Victoria Lee Wells, his nephews, Jeremy Ross and Joseph Paul Marcello IV.

The family will have a visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Notre Dame Seminary, 2901 South Carrolton, New Orleans on Thursday, July 23rd. The mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. for the immediate family, and the service will be live streamed via Notre Dame Seminary’s Facebook. Interment will be private and at a later date.
