Roy K. Galbert, 71, of Jacksonville, Nc. died peacefully Sunday September 9th in Slidell, La at his home surrounded by his wife, daughter and son. Roy was the son of the late Otis and Adele Galbert. Roy is survived by his wife, Darlene Galbert. Roy served in and the Army (1967-1969) during the Vietnam War and the Louisiana National Guard (1970-1978). Roy retired from E.N. Bisso and Sons as a deckhand/engineer over 25 years of employment and became a full time “paw paw”. He was a member of the American Legion Post 185. He enjoyed Fishing, taking random rides out to Lake Pontchartrain to look at the water, drinking unlimited amounts of coffee and spending time with his family and friends. He would always making sure everyone had a good laugh while they were around him. He is survived by his daughter Deena Simmons and her husband Todd. His son Zane Galbert and his wife Danielle; three grandchildren Cassidy, Ty, Brooklyn and great grandchildren Sylas, Harly & his cat Bravo. He will be deeply missed by his family and everyone that knew him. The Committal Service with Military Honors will be held at the Southeastern Veterans Cemetery 34888 Grantham College Dr, Slidell, LA 70460 on September 21st, 2018 at 10:00 followed by a celebration and remembrance at his residence at 3169 Duncan St. Family and Friends are invited to attend and share memories and stories of Roy and how he impacted your life.
