Rodney McLain

Rodney Wayne McLain, Sr., 68, of Covington, LA, passed away peacefully at his home on January 6, 2024 surrounded by his children and family.  Born on November 7, 1955, in Covington, Rodney was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Rodney was a skilled builder and took pride in creating a home where his children and now grandchildren could grow up. He had a passion for music and enjoyed playing the guitar and banjo. Rodney's love for his family was evident in the time he spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Rodney is survived by his former wife, Tammy, their children Rodney Jr. (Chasity), Misty (Eddie), and Casey (Kailie), as well as his former wife Robyn and her children and grandchildren that became family to him.  He will also be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Kile, Katelyn, Miranda, Leah, Jacob, Gianni, Lilah, Nash, and his great-grandchildren Kylee, Clara, and Layla. He is also survived by his brothers James Jr. (Linda), Jerry and sister Wanda.  Rodney was preceded in death by his granddaughter Kaylie, his father James Sr., his mother Eunice, his brother Raymond, and his sister Kathy.

Rodney attended Covington High School and later worked at Southeast Louisiana Hospital before retiring as head carpenter foreman . In his free time, he enjoyed vacationing in Mexico and going on scuba diving adventures with Robyn.

A Celebration of Rodney's life will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, starting at 10:00am at Bagnell & Son Funeral Home 75212 Hwy 437 in Covington. The funeral home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Rodney Wayne McLain, Sr. will be remembered as a kind-hearted and talented individual who cherished his family and loved ones. May his soul rest in peace.
