Robert “Bob” Ray Whitaker, Sr. 75, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, September 28, 2017. He was born in Albany, Louisiana, the son of Helen Vargo Whitaker and Will Earl Whitaker. Bob graduated from Hammond High School, Class of 1960. Following graduation, he served with the US Army from 1960-1964. In 1965 he married Judith L. Whitaker and settled in Covington, Louisiana. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years. Bob is survived by his two sons Robert R. Whitaker, Jr. (Dana) and Steven Douglas Whitaker (Amy); six grandchildren, Kyle (Leslie), Jacob, Sara, Caleb, Courtney, and Trace; three great grandchildren, Kaden, Kennedy, and Makenzie; and two brothers Will Whitaker and Eddie Whitaker. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2638 W. 15th Avenue, Covington, LA 70435 on Monday, October 2, 2017 at 12:00 PM.
