Robert Walter Weldon, beloved husband and father, passed away on August 26 th , 2015. He was 89 years old. Bob was born and raised in Arlington, Massachusetts, the treasured, only child of Anne and Lester Weldon. They called him Bobby. Bobby was proud to serve his country in World War II as a pilot in the Army Air Corp and learned to fly in a Boeing Stearman biplane. He loved to fly, cherished freedom and never forgot the men he served with or the terrible cost of war. He honored and loved the United States of America and her veterans until the day he died. Bob met and married Floreida Theresa McGovern of Brookline, Mass, the love of his life for nearly 70 years. Together, they raised 5 children, who love him, respect him and will always laugh at his jokes. He graduated from Boston University, class of 1951, with a degree in Business. For nearly 40 years, Bob worked at American Express and rose to Sr. Investments Trader. He also taught Finance and wrote course material for the New York Institute of Finance. He loved the high-flying, fast pace of Wall Street and being at the heart of global finance. He worked as hard as anyone could and took great pride in his accomplishments, his friends, and especially his family. Bob and Floreida traveled the world, visiting Asia, Australia, Europe, and all over North and South America. He loved every minute of it…especially Paris. He loved Jazz music, swing bands, warm ocean breezes and sailboats. Bob lived a wonderful, long, successful life with a sparkle in his eye and a full heart. Robert W. Weldon is survived by wife, Floreida Weldon, of Mandeville and his children – Robert F. Weldon and wife Veronica of Mandeville, Regina Weldon Gilvey of Mandeville, Paul R. Weldon and wife Candice of Mandeville, Emily Weldon Fix and husband Ronald F. Fix of Mandeville and Elissa A. Weldon and husband Richard R. Pothier of Summit, NJ -- as well as 10 grandchildren—Robert, Sean, Francis, Sidney, Devin, Jacqueline, Catherine, Liam, Molly and Zarah. We all love him and will miss him beyond measure.
