Robert E. Bourgeois, Jr., age 83, of Slidell, LA entered peacefully into the arms of our Lord on April 29, 2024 surrounded by his family at his home.
He was preceded in death by parents Robert E. Bourgeois, Sr., Rita Campo Bourgeois and his loving wife of 64 yrs Daisy Lynn Bourgeois.
Bob was a devoted husband to Lynn and father to 4 daughters, Karen Cox, (Mike), Trudy Bourgeois, Shelli Vinturella, (Gary), Bobbi Lynn Lowe, (Tony), and his grandchildren, Amy Leasman, (Joe), Ashlie Figueroa, (Rolando), Stevie Marie Ramos, (Ruben), Brandon Lowe, (Whitney), Nicholas Lowe, (Sabrina) – all of whom knew him as Papaw – and his 12 great grandchildren, who affectionately knew him as Grampy.
Although Bob was a native New Orleanian, he was a proud resident of Slidell for over 40 yrs. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where he faithfully led the Divine Mercy Ministry. He was a Child of God recipient of the St. Louis Medallion, and along with his wife Lynn, was the originator of the Ministry. He also served as a Eucharistic minister at Park Provence Assisted Living. And finally, not only had he served his church community and those in need faithfully and without reservation, he also served his country as a member of the Louisiana National Guard.
Bob was a business owner. He and Lynn were the owners of Bo-Lyn Interiors, a custom home interior shop in Lakeview for many years. He also later in his career was in the car industry, where he worked as the Commercial Fleet Manager at Lamarque Dodge before his retirement after Katrina in 2005.
One of Bob’s passions was traveling. He and Lynn traveled to many places including Europe, Canada, Hawaii and even Egypt. Their favorite was always Paris, France which was their most visited.
The family would like to express their gratitude to those who cared for and served his every need until his passing. A special mention to Zita Whitmarsh and Enhabit Hospice for all they did to comfort him and ensure that his final moments were peaceful. And of course, to Bobbi Lynn Lowe, whose help and compassion was sincerely appreciated throughout the course of his illness.
Relatives and friends are invited to the services, which will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 775 Harrison Ave, New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will begin at 11am., followed by a Mass at 12 noon. Interment will be held privately, following the Mass.
In lieu of flowers we would like Masses at Our Lady of Lourdes Church and donations to the St Tammany SPCA 31078 Highway 36 Lacombe, Louisiana 70445.
