Robert Edward DeLoach, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away Friday, April 19, 2024, on his 92nd birthday. He was born April 19, 1932 in Winnfield, LA. Robert lived a life devoted to family, friends, and education. Always cheerful, even to the end, he exemplified charity, sympathy, fraternity, optimism, and devotion. His unconditional love was something he shared with all. Robert loved meeting people and never met a stranger. Robert will be remembered by friends and family for his honesty, wisdom, contagious smile, and wonderful sense of humor. Prior to a very rewarding career in education, Robert proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War.
Robert graduated from Winnfield High School in 1950 prior to attending Northwestern State University where he graduated with a Bachelors degree followed by a Masters in Education. Robert’s career as an educator began as a teacher at Broadmoor Middle School, He then went into administration at Youree Drive Middle School, eventually serving as assistant principal.
Robert was a faithful member of St. James Episcopal Church in Shreveport, where he served diligently for over 50 years in the choir, Lay reader, Parish Council Chairman, among other duties. He later moved to Pike Road, AL where he served in the choir at Grace Episcopal Church.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents John Trichel and Emma Lou DeLoach; wife of 47 years Nancy King DeLoach; brothers John Trichel DeLoach, Thomas Hampton DeLoach, James Douglas DeLoach; and grandson Joshua Michael Hoffpauir.
Robert is survived by his sisters Gloria Virginia Horton and Mary Katherine Smith; children, Lisa DeLoach Hoffpauir (Gregory), Jennifer DeLoach Cole (Stephen); grandchildren John Hoffpauir (Lauren), David Hoffpauir (Victoria), Katherine Hoffpauir, Maria Hoffpauir, Cecilia Hoffpauir, Ashley Pack (Jonathan), and Sheila Cole (Pat); great grandchildren Kayla, Hank, Matthew, Isabelle, Waylon, Joshua, Lucia, Abigail, and Caroline, and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Joshua Michael Hoffpauir Memorial Scholarship Fund, Catholic High School, Baton Rouge, LA, or Providence House, Shreveport, LA.
Funeral will be held at 11:00 AM, May 6, 2024 at St. James Episcopal Church, Shreveport, LA. Reception will follow at the Church. All are welcome to gather and share memories. Interment will follow in St. James Episcopal Church Columbarium, Shreveport, LA.
