Ramon Meilton Cruz, III

Ramon “Ray” Meilton Cruz, III left this life on Sunday, October 3, 2021, at the age of 65. Ray loved music and one of his favorite songs “My Way” was the way he lived. His way was working hard and playing hard. He loved fast boats and fast cars. He may have asked for advice but rarely, if ever, followed it unless it matched his way.  Ray never met a stranger and made fast friendships with many that lasted a lifetime. His tough exterior was matched with a soft heart, and he was always there to help anyone in need.  This was not limited to humans.  Ray had a deep empathy for animals and would give his last dime to save any creature in pain.  He was a proud member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 60. However, he was most proud of his children and grandchildren, sharing stories of their successes with everyone. Ray is survived by his children, Aimee Cruz Corass (Randy), Monica Lynn Cruz, daughter-in-law Ellen Cruz, his siblings, Melanie Stephens (Raymond), Janet Ayler (Lynn Mapp) and Robert Cruz (Judy). He also leaves behind his seven grandchildren, Jonathan, Hunter, Isabelle, Kala, Peighton, Eli, Kinsley, two great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and his faithful canine companions Chi Chi and Jazzy Grace.

Ramon is preceded in death by his parents Ramon Meilton Cruz, Jr. and Myra Heath Cruz and his son, Ramon “Ray-Ray” Meilton Cruz, IV.

Ray was the recipient of a donor organ which allowed him to have an additional 730 days with his family and friends, living his way. We offer great gratitude to the family of the donor.

Family and friends are invited to attend Services on Friday, October 22, 2021, in the Chapel of Bagnell & Son Funeral Home 75212 Hwy 437 Covington, Louisiana 70435.  Visitation will begin at 11AM followed by a memorial service at 1:00PM. Inurnment to follow in the Eternal Rest Cemetery.
