Philip A. Sharp, age 111, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. The life-long Covington resident was born on December 21, 1909 to Robert and Della Sharp. He was a retired trapper and cattleman. He will be remembered for his love of family, friends, animals, and farming. His legacy will continue to live on through the knowledge and stories he passed on to his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter Shirley S. McLain (George), grandson George Kevin (Gwen), his great-grand daughter Samantha McLain Ungaro (Marcus), and two great-great grandsons Marcus Ungaro Jr. and George Philip. And many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his first wife, Beatrice J. Sharp and his second wife, Edna G. Sharp. His father Robert Sharp and mother Della Sharp. As well as his eleven siblings, Edith S. Loyd, Neva S. Lam, Ollie Sharp, Eunice S. Thomas, Kenzie Sharp, Veva (Pete) S. Pittman, Leonard Sharp, Finis S. Jones, James (Buster) Sharp, Victor Sharp, and Royce Sharp.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at New Zion Baptist Church 17387 New Zion Church Rd, Covington, LA 70435 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in the Fussell Cemetery. All are welcome. If you would like to wear your cowboy hat in his honor, please feel free to do so. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made to the New Zion Baptist Church building fund.
