Nancy Goldston Herpin peacefully passed away on June 3, 2022 in Covington, Louisiana, with her family by her side.
She was born on the 9th of December 1936 to Iris and Walter Leon Goldston, and grew up in Houston, Texas with her sister Patti Lynn. Nancy graduated from The Kinkaid School in 1955 and attended the University of Oklahoma.
Kind and generous, Nancy was an understanding, fun-loving, and optimistic friend. Her empathy extended to animals of all kinds, and she was never without at least one devoted pet. She enjoyed hosting friends in the summers at her family vacation home on Flathead Lake in Polson, Montana, where boating and gathering delicious cherries from the orchard remained favorite pastimes. As a young woman, Nancy excelled as an equestrienne, owning and showing American Saddlebred horses throughout the country. In 1982, Nancy established an equestrian facility, Classic Farms, in Covington, Louisiana. And her favorite horses included Impish, The Phoenix, Morning Time Gold, and Rhythm N’ Jazz. For forty years, Nancy provided expert care and training to several World’s Champion and Reserve World’s Champion horses.
Central to Nancy’s life has long been her devotion to Jesus Christ and to her church home at New Zion Baptist Church. A member for twelve years, Nancy regarded that community, along with her family, to be her greatest blessings.
Nancy is survived by her children, Georgia Herpin Baker and Claude "Chris" Herpin, II; son-in-law Lovett “Chip" Baker, Jr.; cherished grandson, Lovett Baker, III; and niece and nephews, Lydia Mayfield Abbott, Jack “Trey” Mayfield, III, and Walter “Tad” Mayfield. Nancy is predeceased by her parents and her sister, Patti Goldston Mayfield.
The visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at New Zion Baptist Church, 17387 New Zion Church Road, Covington, Louisiana, followed by the memorial service at 12:00 p.m., led by Dr. Clark Stewart. A private graveside burial will precede the visitation.
