Myra Owen

Myra Dean Owen of Slidell, La. passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at the age of 71. She is preceded in death by her husband; Ray M. Owen, her parents; Pearson Long, Sr. and Katie Moorman, her brothers; Joe Long, Pearson “Porky” Long and stepbrother Chris Moorman. Myra is survived by her children; Eddie Burns (Julie), Donald Burns, Sr. (Brenda), Robert Burns (Maria), Melissa Burge (Richard) her step father Richard Moorman. Beloved grandmother (Maw Maw) to Don Burns, Jr. (Holly), Kenny Burns, Brandi Burns, Megan Burns (Colin), Kaylee Burns, Christopher Burns, Victoria Burge (Matthew) and Savannah Barrera. Also survived by ten great-grandchildren, her brothers; Gus Long, Sr., Wayne Long, Huey long, sister Faye Givens and step brothers Johnny Moorman and Ricky Moorman as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Myra was born on January 17, 1948 in Birmingham, AL. She was a long-time resident of Slidell, La. She owned and operated Katie & Myra’s Café on Hwy 190 in Slidell for many years. When the doors of the café closed Myra still served her famous coffee with biscuits and gravy to many faithful and devoted customers and friends out of her own home kitchen every morning. Her favorite past time was playing the slot machines at the casino or you could always find her dancing to good music on the dance floor. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Pearlington United Methodist Church 5212 Levee Street Pearlington, MS. 39572 with visitation from 12:00 p.m. until service time.
