Milton Albert Campo Sr.

Mandeville, Louisiana

Milton Albert Campo Sr., 85 of Mandeville, Louisiana passed away on October 17, 2023.  Milton was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, devout Catholic, and hero to many. He was a native of New Orleans.

Milton was a proud graduate of Holy Cross High School where he lettered in five sports before moving on to play professional baseball for 3 years in the New York Yankee organization.  He also served in the Navy Reserve for 4 years and participated in the Cuban Crisis. Upon returning home from his baseball career, he earned a degree from Tulane University and started working in the Material Handling industry. Until his retirement in 2021, Milton worked in the same profession for 55 years. He spoke often of the many people he met and became friends with from up and down the river. He loved being a father and taking care of his family.  He also enjoyed vacations, sneaking his grandkids sugary snacks and playing card games with them. 

Milton is survived by his loving wife Alice Malbrough Campo, his children Milton Campo Jr. (Julie), Mary Kelly, Randal Campo, and Joy Newman (Chris Mauterer) as well as his grandchildren, Ashley Newman, and Katelyn Newman, Hannah Campo, Alyssa Kelly, Matthew Kelly, Taylor Mauterer, Robert Campo and great-grandchildren Delilah Mauterer and Olivia Mauterer and sister Gwen Saucier-Bordes. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Richard Alcede Campo Sr. and Myrtle Ermert Campo, and his brother, Richard Campo Jr.  

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life service to honor Milton at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 1st at the home of Milton Campo Jr prior to a Military Honors Service at 1:30 at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery at 34888 Grantham College Dr, Slidell, Louisiana 70460.


The family requests that any donations in his name should be made to The Alzheimer’s Association or the Wounded Warrior Project.
