Michael Gregory Zaiontz, ,aged 64,on November 19, 2017 having fought the good fight in faith, was called into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Husband of Dale Standifer, LCSW for 33 years, stepfather of Michael (Nicole) and Patrick (Tanya). Grandfather of Benjamin, Nicolas, Gabriel, Abigail, Grace and Mackenzie. Son of the late Joycelynn Montalbano Zaiontz and the late Joseph Zaiontz. Nephew of Irma Claire Montalbano. Ordained a Deacon of the Roman Catholic Church in 2008, he served at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in New Orleans, St. Benedict Church in Covington, and as Director of the St. Dymphna Catholic Center in Mandeville. Mike was a man of many talents and interests. He loved filmmaking and special effects. He collected telephone central office and outside plant materials, and belonged to the International Telephone Collectors Association. He worked as a State Licensed Electrical and Mechanical Contractor, a computer software designer, and a licensed private investigator. Mike was also a licensed private pilot for small craft for most of his life. Visitation will be on November 24, 2017 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at St Benedict Church, followed by the mass of Christian burial at St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Deacon Mike’s memory to St. Dymphna Catholic Center, (23515 US Hwy 190, Mandeville, La 70448) or to St. Benedict Church (20370 Smith Rd, Covington, La 70435) Bagnell & Son Funeral Home, Covington, LA in charge of arrangements.
