Michael "Mike" Hill passed away at his home in Covington, LA on Tuesday, October 10th, 2017, after a 3-year battle with Dementia. He was born May 5th, 1939 in Baton Rouge LA. He was a 1957 graduate of Baton Rouge High School and graduated from LSU in January 28th, 1964. While attending LSU, he was a member of the Reserve Officers Training Corps, where he achieved the rank of 1st Lieutenant on December 11th, 1962. After graduation, he served 2 years at Ft. Knox. In 1972, he moved to Covington, where he lived until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents Harry P. and Katherine Burns Hill, a brother in law John O. Phillips, nephew Billy Harrison. Survived by his loving wife Toni Pettavino Hill, daughters Melissa Hill Bankhead (Jeff), Katherine Hill Brooks, Amy Radle, Catherine Radle, Elizabeth Perrault (Brad), Ellen Harsha (Will), a grandson Jackson Thomas Bankhead, a niece Kelley Remy, many nieces, and nephews, nine step grandchildren he adored and a special cousin and lifelong friend, Tommy Burns. To all of us who were fortunate enough to know him, what an honor. We will never forget this extraordinary man: his generosity, his kindness, his sense of humor, his gentle, Christian spirit, his loving heart and the privilege of being in the presence of a true Southern gentleman. Special thanks and eternal gratitude to St. Tammany Hospice, for being there for him and his family in their time of need. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend Visitation 11:00 AM and Memorial Mass 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Chapel located on St. Scholastica Academy (SSA) Campus, 122 S. Massachusetts St. Covington, LA 70433. A Graveside Service will be held at Roselawn Cemetery located at 4045 North St. Baton Rouge, LA 70806 on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Follow the signs from the cemetery entrance. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Dementia Society of America.
