Michael Stephen Haddad, age 72, died peacefully on Friday, October 30 surrounded by his family in Mandeville. Mike was born in Houma, Louisiana on June 3, 1943. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Kay (Guidry) Haddad; son Stephen Haddad and wife Sarabeth; daughter Ashley Haddad and fiancé Nicholas Noriea III; siblings Wayne Haddad and wife Kathleen; Carolyn Haddad; John Haddad and wife Mary. He also had many nieces, nephews, and godchildren who he loved very much. He is preceded in death by his parents Stephen and Yvonne (Naquin) Haddad.
Mike built his career in service to others as an accomplished Catholic priest, social worker, and attorney. He received degrees in History and Divinity from Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans, social work from Catholic University in Washington D.C., and law from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He served as Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy Reserve, Executive Director of Catholic Charities in New Orleans, and subsequently as an attorney until retirement. He was also brought much joy through his service to Saint Joseph’s Abbey.
Mike will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be held at Bagnell and Son Funeral Home, 75212 Lee Road, Hwy 437, Covington, Louisiana on Tuesday, November 3 from 10:00-noon. Mass and interment will follow at Saint Joseph’s Abbey, 75376 River Road, St. Benedict, Louisiana beginning at 1pm. Special thanks to the staff of Heritage Manor Nursing Home and St. Tammany Parish Hospice. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to Saint Joseph’s Abbey or the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
