Michael Frederick Delery, age 69, of Covington, Louisiana, passed away on October 9, 2017. He was a devoted husband of 46 years to Sheryl Bacle Delery and a loving father to Suzanne Delery Roth (Jeff) and Anne Delery McWhorter. He is also survived by his three adored grandchildren, Clare Marie Roth, Jeffrey Robert Roth, Jr., and Michael Edward McWhorter.
Mr. Delery was born on November 17, 1947 in New Orleans, Louisiana, and is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Joseph Delery, Sr. and Clare Favret Delery, He was the oldest of five children, including Clare Marie Delery, Kathleen Delery Baxter, James Gerard Delery, and Edward Joseph Delery, Jr. Mr. Delery graduated from DeLaSalle High School and earned a business degree from Southeastern Louisiana University, followed by graduate studies at Loyola University. He was a former member of the Suburban Gun and Rod Club. In later life, he was an active volunteer for the Covington Food Bank, the Madisonville Maritime Museum, an active member in the St. Peter Church Men's Club, and a mentor for the HOSTS reading program at Lyon Elementary School. Hunting, fishing, volunteering, and outdoor sports were his hobbies, including winning the New Orleans Bass Master Trophy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to one of his volunteer organizations or the Disability Integration Team of the American Red Cross for sensory therapy.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the Funeral Mass at St. Peter Catholic Church, 125 E. 19th Ave., Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. with visitation at church beginning at 10:00 a.m.
