Merlin Corcoran Jr.

Merlin Thomas Corcoran Jr. went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 12, 2018. He was born on March 19, 1933 to the late Merlin T Corcoran and Dorothy Corcoran. He lived in New Orleans East until he moved to Mandeville in 2005. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Catherine Corcoran. He also leaves behind his beloved children Merlin (Cicky) Corcoran III (Becky), Colleen Taverna (Gary), Maureen Garatie (Mark), Eileen Corcoran, Kathleen Toft (Eric),  Kevin Corcoran (Erin),  Tasha Hines (Derek), and William Corcoran, 29 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, his sister, Valerie Tassin (George), Dale Corcoran,  and a host of nieces and nephews. Merlin is preceded in death by his sister Patricia Vath and his sister-in-law Lana Corcoran. Merlin was a talented singer in the St Louis Cathedral Choir for 50 years. His musical talent brought joy to everyone he came across. He loved music, making people laugh, and more than anything, he loved his family. The family would like to thank the staff of Pontchartrain Health Care Center, particularly the Richerson Unit, for their care and unwavering dedication to Merlin during the last 15 months of his life. A Celebration of Life will be held at Northcross United Methodist Church, 311 Hwy 21 Covington, LA on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 9:30am.
