Mercedes Fussell passed away on Saturday, November 25. She was 92 years old and a resident of Covington, Louisiana. She left this Earth peacefully, surrounded by her family.
She taught Sunday School and Bible School at Shepherd’s Fold Church for many years. She and Mary Lou Albin cooked the first dinners going out from Shepherd’s Fold, and later from Shepherd’s Care Ministries, and helped in the delivery of these meals. She and Mary Lou also bought Christmas goodies to fill 500 shoe boxes going from the Fairhaven Children’s Home to Romanian orphanages. She loved doing her church work.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adrian “Pete” Fussell, and was survived by her son Steve and wife Kris, her daughter Susan Fussell Kliesch and husband Bill, and by her beloved grandson Alex Kliesch. She also left behind her family in love, Krista and Brian Farmer, and Karen Keating.
A Memorial Service will be held at Shepherd’s Care Church at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 1, 2023. The service will be preceded by visitation at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m. and followed by a graveside service at Similousa Cemetery.
