Mary 'Peggy' T. Deer

March 11, 1938 — April 1, 2025

Pearl River, Louisiana

Mary T. Deer, affectionately known as Peggy, was born on March 11, 1938, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her journey in this world came to a close on April 1, 2025, in Pearl River, Louisiana, surrounded by her loving family.

Peggy was the proud daughter of the late Ernest Thiel and Lucille Richard. She cherished fond memories of her beloved late brother, Joel E. Thiel. Her vibrant spirit and unwavering devotion to her family were evident in every interaction.

Her legacy continues through her loving children: Stephen E. Acosta and his wife, Fern, and Lisa A. Soileau and her husband, Philip. Peggy found tremendous joy in her role as a grandmother to seven adoring grandchildren: Jennifer Reeb and her husband, Ryan; Jeffrey Acosta and his wife, Jessica; Jill Reynolds and her husband, Cody; Amber Robertson and her husband, Datren; Cory Soileau; Jordan Bryson; and Jared Bryson. Each grandchild held a special place in her heart, and her love for them knew no bounds.

Peggy was also a proud great-grandmother to eleven beautiful great-grandchildren: Asher Acosta, Caden Acosta, Josie Acosta, Gavin Reeb, Stella Reeb, Lyla Reynolds, Lucy Reynolds, Logan Reynolds, Amelia Robertson, Jacob Robertson, and Aaron Robertson. Each of these little ones brought light to her life, and she adored every precious moment spent with them. She was also a loving companion to Victor Schmit II.

A special thanks to Dana and Paul Fraychinaud and Victor Scmitt III for their loving attention and kindness throughout the years.

Peggy's life will be celebrated on April 5, 2025, starting at noon at 18050 Derbes Dr, Covington, Louisiana. Family and friends are invited to join together in remembrance and to share stories that honor the beautiful soul she was.

We extend heartfelt gratitude to all the employees and Harmony Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion during Peggy's final days. Her family is immensely appreciative of the support and love shown, reflecting the caring nature Peggy embodied.

Peggy’s warmth, laughter, and unyielding love will remain alive in the cherished memories shared by her family and loved ones. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will continue to shine in the lives she influenced.
