Devoted Mother and Grandmother
Martha Helen Poché, 76, died Friday, April 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Martha was born on March 7, 1949 in New Orleans, LA to Drs. William and Margaret Poché. She began her teaching career straight out of college and spent her 42 years of teaching in Jefferson Parish at Westgate Elementary and Meisler Middle School where she made many lifelong friends. Martha retired in 2013 to be a stay at home grandma.
Martha gave birth to her daughter and best friend, Stephanie, on June 28, 1983. Stephanie was her proudest achievement and favorite story to tell. They were inseparable. Martha's life revolved around Stephanie and also her grandchildren, Luke and Margaret. They too became her favorite story to tell. She was at every game, event, or activity.
She is survived by her daughter Stephanie (Johnny), and her two grandchildren, Luke and Margaret, her favorite travel buddy Austin, and her two brothers Tommy and Craig, as well as their wives and children. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Martha had a huge heart. She leaves behind a legacy of love and opinions, both of which made her great.
A celebration will be held on April 12, 2025 at 11am at her home in St. Rose, LA. Care has been entrusted to Bagnell & Son Funeral Home.
