Marisa Elene Romero

Marisa Elene Romero (endearingly referred to as Risi), beloved daughter, loving wife, and fierce mother, passed away at age 42 on December 7, 2023 in Covington, LA.

Marisa was born on August 18, 1981, in Shreveport, LA. She is proceeded in death by her grandparents, Jerry & Nell Moore and Bertha Romero. She is survived by her husband Domenic Maffettone, daughter Victoria Maffettone, grandfather Alfonso Romero Sr, parents Alfonso Jr “Fonz” & Allison Romero, sister Kaitlin “Katy” Rios, nephew Talon, and in-laws Eric Rios, Anthony Maffettone, and Molly Maffettone Mier as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

Marisa’s educational journey began at Lee Road Junior High School and she graduated from Covington High School in 1999. After graduation, she pursued art studies at Southeastern Louisiana University.

Marisa had a passion for art and expressed her creativity through several mediums on a regular basis. From a blank canvas, to floral arrangements & gardens (a particular treasure), to hair, makeup, and fashion, she found joy in bringing beauty to the world through her artistic talents. To Marisa, the world was her palette to express herself and personalize her surroundings with her sense of style.

Being raised around animals, Marisa developed a love for cats and dogs and made a home for as many as she could. The same could be said for rocks too. Collecting pretty rocks and precious stones was a revered pastime.

Marisa was incredibly caring and had a joyfully kindred spirit. She was hilariously comical and unapologetically confident. She loved her family dearly and will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved her beautiful soul.

A Memorial Service to honor and celebrate Marisa's life will be held on December 15th with visitation from 12-2PM and service to follow at Bagnell and Son Funeral Home, located at 75212 Lee Road, Covington, LA 70435.
