Linh Thi Nell

May 9, 1950 — April 13, 2024

Folsom, Louisiana

Mrs. Linh Thi Nell, known affectionately as "Mamma Linh," was called Home to her Lord and Savior on April 13, 2024.  She was born on May 9, 1950, in Vientiane, Laos, and passed peacefully at her adopted home in the Village of Folsom, Louisiana, at the age of 73.

Linh was the faithful wife of 57 years to a foreign service diplomat, caring mother and grandmother, who devoutly and unconditionally loved her family and friends.  She led a resilient life, enduring various tragedies of war, natural disasters and family illnesses.  Linh was a humble yet classy world traveler, who shared her beautiful, signature smile and kind heart in every country she visited.  She actively sought out to experience different cultures, languages and cuisines, and adventured religiously through the local markets, shops and restaurants at every opportunity she had.  In addition to her loving nature, Linh touched everyone’s heart through their stomach and the heavenly aromas of her cooking permeated the senses of all who entered her home.  Linh’s ability to speak seven languages, was a testament to her devotion to communicate and share life experiences with the people she met.

In addition to her devoted husband, Gerald Nell, Linh is survived by her daughters, Joanne Davis and Angela Nell-Bonilla, her brother Nguyen Duc Kim, and her grandchildren Zachary Davis, Tyler Davis, Brooke Bonilla, Bella Bonilla, and Brandon Bonilla. She was preceded in death by her father, Nguyen Duc Thanh, her mother, Phan Thi Van, and her son-in-law, John Davis.

Mamma Linh's passion for caring for her family and forming deep friendships defined her. She had a spiritual connection with others and was loved by all who knew her.  Her legacy of love, kindness, and cultural appreciation will forever be cherished by those whose lives she touched.

The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to the staff of St. Tammany Health System Hospital and Hospice for the exceptional care, kindness and compassion provided.  Additionally, the love, prayers and support provided by friends, extended family and neighbors will be treasured and never forgotten.

Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Folsom on Saturday, May 11, 2024, with visitation at 10am and celebration of life service at 11am.
