LeAnn Marie Staffen

LeAnn Marie Staffen was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on November 28, 1937, to James and Mildred (Arndt) Johnson. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central, where she was active in dance and choir. LeAnn met and married Roger Staffen in 1962. Though their union would not last, they were blessed with three beautiful children, Mark, Michelle, and Michael. She worked at Schoolcraft Veterinary Clinic and International Research in Kalamazoo, Michigan. In her free time she loved to do counted cross stitch and paint. She had a passion for animals and especially her grandchildren who gave her the name Bunka. She enjoyed her travel adventures with her daughter Michelle and looked forward to them yearly. 

She passed peacefully on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, in Mandeville, Louisiana. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Lyle Johnson. She is survived by her daughter Michelle, sons Mark (Linda)and Michael Staffen. Grandchildren Holly Austin, Ashley Taulbee, Kelsey Scarbrough, Madison and Makenna Staffen, and Tyler Scarbrough. Great grandchildren Chloe Austin, Aubrie Cheeks, Bryson and Liam Taulbee, Justin jr. and Julian Cheeks. 

Bunka's wishes were to have her body donated to science through LSU Health Science Center for the advancement of medical education and research where cremation will take place. There will be no service at this time. Memorial contributions can be made to Louisiana SPCA.
