Lawrence “Ducky” Brady

Lawrence “Ducky” Joseph Brady born July 4, 1918, passed peacefully on April 18, 2018 at the age of 99, surrounded by his family.  Lawrence was a native of New Orleans and the second of five children born to Helen Reso Brady and Lawrence Augustus Brady.  Having grown up during The Great Depression, and being the provider for his family, Lawrence was no stranger to hard work and struggle.  At the age of 16 he began working for Sears and Roebuck until he was drafted in 1941 to serve in the United States Army as a military police officer with the 156th infantry division. Upon returning form the war, he returned to employment with Sears, from which he retired in 1983. In the following years, he met his beloved wife Helena Griffin Brady.  They married in September 1948.

Lawrence was passionate about sports, playing for a Jefferson Parish softball league for many years.  His team was The Jokers.  He followed all sports, both collegiate and professional, on a regular basis.

Lawrence was a man of few words but a strong work ethic and great love for his family.  He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings; survived by his devoted wife of 69 years Helena Griffin Brady, son Ken Brady (Kathy), grandson Kevin Brady, granddaughters Emily Brady Cooper (Zach) and Anna Brady Campo (Cody), as well as great granddaughters Zoe, Cheyenne, and Ainsley.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Tammany Council on Aging (COAST), or  St. Tammany Parish Hospital Hospice Foundation.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to celebrate his life April 24, 2018 ,with a visitation begins at 10 am, with services at 12 noon, followed by interment at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery 34888 Grantham College Drive, Slidell, La 70460.
