Larry Leonard Reid was called home by his Lord on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at the age of 73. He was born in Hammond, LA on June 7, 1951 to his parents, Morgan and Melba Reid. A lifelong resident of Folsom, he was known to many of his friends as “Professor” and a jack of all trades, never turning down a challenge. Larry is survived by his devoted Wife of 52 years, Linda Lemons Reid; Son, Lee Reid (Jessica); Daughter, Tracey Harris (Robert); Sister, Rosemary Reid Chiantella (Kirk); Grandchildren, Krisa Lane, Brian K. Lane, and Adam Harris; his Great-Grandchildren, Allie, Layla and their mother Ashley Watts, and Brayden, and Kylan; and his Niece, Angela Chiantella. He is preceded in death by his Father, Morgan Reid and Mother, Melba Reid; Daughter, Madeline Lynne; and Nephew, David Matthew Adams. A proud Veteran, Larry served in the Merchant Marines delivering supplies to Vietnam. He was also the owner of Reid’s Stop & Shop, The Keg, and the Tchefuncte Family Campground. Larry was a talented musician for 60 years and played in the “Yester Year” band for over 10 years. Larry continued to enjoy playing his music until God brought him home. His hobby was sailing on his boat the Linda Lu to Florida and along the coast with his wife Linda, as well as enjoying several sailing trips with his son, Lee. He was also a proud member of the Masonic Lodge for 30 years. Larry touched the lives of many and will be sorely missed. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at The First Baptist Church of Folsom, 13320 Broadway St, Folsom, LA 70437, on Saturday, August 3, 2024. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM with the Service following at 11:00 AM, inurnment will take place immediately after at Tom Spell Memorial Cemetery, Chinchuba Cemetery Rd, Mandeville, LA 70448.
