An Extraordinary Life Remembered

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Larry J. Plaisance, Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, and brother who left us on 13 August 2024. Leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and deep connection to his roots. Known for his remarkable character and generosity, Larry touched the lives of many with his warm heart and guidance.

He leaves behind his children, Michelle “Shelly” L. McKnight (Gary), Larry J. Plaisance Jr. (Christen), Ambre P. McGinn (Ryan White), Shawn Everett and stepdaughter, Christine Romines (Chris). They carry forward his spirit, cherishing the countless memories and lessons he imparted to them. His eight grandchildren; Kayla, Ashlynn, Joseph, Shane, Chloe, Lilianna, Nick and Madeline. Two great-grandchildren; Naomi and Matteo. He took great pride in sharing his love of music and photography with them, capturing moments that will be remembered forever. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Richoux Autin and his father, John J. Plaisance.

Larry was not only a brother but also a friend to his sisters, Terry L. Olivier (Stacy) and Debbie A. Pearson (the late Steven), and his late brother, Randy L. Warren Sr. His strength and unwavering support made him a pillar in their lives. Larry's connection to his family extended to his passion for the city of New Orleans, where he found immense joy in the vibrant culture, especially during Mardi Gras, where he was a beloved member of the Thoth organization for 20 years. He was a devoted fan of the New Orleans Saints, having held season tickets for many years. He was also a past member of the Knights of Columbus on the Westbank of New Orleans. His love for the city and its traditions was a testament to his deep appreciation for the life he lived.

As we remember Larry, we celebrate a life lived with creativity and a passion for the things that brought him happiness.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
