Kathleen Moncrief Nastasi

Kathleen (Kathy) Nastasi passed away on Tuesday, August 29th at 61-years-old. She was a bright light in her community and loved greatly by her family and friends. Kathy was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to Irene and William Moncrief and had three siblings, William, Donna, and Michael. Kathy attended St. Mary’s Dominican High School and LSU. She was happily married for nearly 40 years to Peter Nastasi, III, and had two children: Peter William Nastasi and Kathryn Nastasi Anding (sp. Darrin Anding). Kathy became a grandmother to James Foster Anding on June 10th and he was her pride and joy. Kathy spent as much time as she could with James, traveling with Peter to Austin to visit. She was also the proud step-grandmother to Kyndall Anding. Kathy was a loving, dedicated mother and raising her children was her greatest gift. She is preceded in death by her son, Peter, and knowing they are together now is a great comfort to her family and friends. Kathy was very involved in St. Tammany Parish. She was a member of the St. Peter’s School Parent’s Club and chaired the Party at the Pavillion Fair for several years. She also served as the St. Tammany Parish Water District President for over 20 years. Kathy cherished her position at the St. Joseph’s Abbey, where she managed fundraising for Deo Gratias, Dinner from Heaven, and Monk Run. She also managed the volunteers. Kathy also personally volunteered for the St. Vincent de Paul Society. In her spare time, Kathy loved spending time with her family, especially watching LSU games, and loved the years when she watched her daughter, Kathryn, perform as a Golden Girl for LSU. She was also an animal lover who adopted many pets throughout the years. Kathy was a selfless, generous person who cared for others in a beautiful way. She will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 12th, at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Abbey, 75376 River Road, St. Benedict, LA. A Funeral Mass will follow the visitation at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the St. Jude Research Hospital in memory of Kathy.
