Karen Olsen

Karen Margret Olsen passed away on Christmas day, from complications due to a stroke, in New Orleans, LA.

Beloved daughter of Ivar G. and Anna M. Olsen, Karen was preceded in death by her parents, sister Sonja and brother George. She is survived by her brother Roy (Barbara), Nephews George Jr. (Megan), Ivar (Carie) and Nicholas in addition to many great nephews and nieces.

Born in Baldwin NY Karen grew up in Bay Shore NY. A graduate of Bayshore High school and Adelphi University, after graduation she lived in Islip NY and taught elementary school in Bayshore, worked for Fairchild on the A-10 fighter project. She owned a greeting card shop while living in Patchogue. After moving to Florida, she worked for Disney at the Vero Beach FL Resort, for the Stuart News and in insurance sales in Stuart FL. She fondly spoke about her summers at Watch Hill Marina on Fire Island working with friends and family and as a long time resident and board member of the Holly Creek community in Jensen Beach Fl. Karen moved to the New Orleans area in 2019 to be near her brother Roy and his family.

Lovingly called Tanta Cookie by friends and family she treasured her friends and her family and their Norwegian heritage. Karen enjoyed nothing more than talking with dear friends.

A private burial will be held in New York.
