Juvonnie Fraychineaud Smith passed away peacefully on May 24, 2021. She was born on March 8, 1949, the tenth of fifteen children. She was raised in New Orleans, LA before settling in Chalmette and finally Abita Springs.
She was passionate about helping others. She served as a paraeducator at Mandeville Elementary before making the difficult decision to retire from a role she cherished so much. Through her many years of dedication, she formed endless heartfelt connections with the students and their families.
The love she had for her family was immeasurable. She was always the doting mother of her two sons. And every month for years she would call her granddaughter to sing her “You Are My Sunshine”.
Juvonnie is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Mildred Fraychineaud, her brothers Bobby (Lena) Fraychineaud, Kayo (Marlyn) Fraychineaud, Albert (Carolyn) Fraychineaud, and her sister Katherin Fraychineaud. She is survived by her former husband Dixon Smith, sons Dixon (Sheri) Smith and Derek (Kristin) Smith, and granddaughter Molly Smith. Her surviving siblings include Noelie (Grady) Elliott, June (Larry) Fos, Elsie (Harold) Boudreaux, Courtney (Maryanne) Fraychineaud, Gary (Gail) Fraychineaud, Althea (Dennis) Treitler, Millicent (Tom) Ancalade, Karen Sue McGiboney, Charlie (Linda) Fraychineaud, and Donna (Jeff) Koski, as well as an ever-growing host of nieces and nephews.
A private memorial will be held in her honor.
