Joseph Bernie Dufour

Joseph Bernie Dufour, 76, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 15, 2025. Born on February 26, 1949 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Harris and Constance Dufour. Bernie is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Brenda Hughes Dufour. he was the proud uncle to his nieces and nephew and grand-nieces and nephews. Bernie was preceded in death by brother, Jim Dufour (wife Joanne) and John Keith Dufour, Jr. (wife Sandra Difatta Dufour). Bernie grew up in the New Orleans area and was employed at the Lighthouse of the Blind as an assembly line clerk. Bernie enjoyed reading a braille copy of the Keepers Digest at the Radio for the Blind and Print Handicapped on Magazine St. Bernie loved the Lord and lead devotionals, prayer and singing at the Crowder Blvd Church of Christ, Shenandoah Church of Christ in San Antonio, Westchurch Church of Christ in Hammond, Louisiana. He and Brenda enjoyed the Saints, Pelicans Basketball and baseball - he taught Brenda all she knew! His favorite scripture was 2 Timothy 5:7 "We walk by faith, not by sight." Bernie is sorely missed and a Celebration of Life will be held on March 12, 2025 at the Tammany Oaks Church of Christ, 3700 LA-59, Mandeville, LA 70471 with visitation beginning at 10 AM and the service at 11 AM.
