Joseph Cummins Jr., aged 78, of Mandeville, LA, passed away on February 4, 2024. He was born in New Orleans, LA, to the late Joe A. Cummins Sr. and Ruth Cummins. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Priscilla Cummins, his children Mark Allen, Melinda Wilson (Steven), and Janet Thompson (Jason), as well as his grandchildren Gregory, Clare, Maggie, and Lizzie. He was predeceased by his brother Lawrence P. Cummins.
Joe graduated from Jesuit High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from the Louisiana State University of New Orleans. He served proudly in the Air Force Reserve and later became the President of Joe A. Cummins Advertising. As a true New Orleanian he loved to share his love for his city and was often seen leading a parade and enjoying the company of associates and friends. Joe was a good listener and problem solver. He loved people and people loved him.
Recently, Joe’s hobby became gardening and propagation. He was a master gardener with the St Tammany Master Gardeners Association. He had a love for flowers and shared the beauty in flowers with others in order to connect and heal.
Joe’s passion for travel led him and his wife on countless adventures across the United States in recent years.
Services will be held on February 26, 2024, at Most Holy Trinity Church in Covington, LA, with visitation from 1-2:30 pm and a Memorial Mass at 2:30 pm. A private burial at St. Patrick’s Cemetery #2 will take place at a later date.
