John “Jack” Nicholas Nicosia passed away peacefully at his home in Robert, LA on January 12, 2021, at the age of 88. He is survived by his loving wife, Elaine Root Nicosia of 69 years. Jack, one of five children, was born November 28, 1932 in New Orleans, LA. Known to his beloved family and friends as “Pops”, he was a graduate of Metairie High. In 1953, Jack was drafted into the Army, 31st Infantry and proudly served his country as a sergeant for two years during the Korean War. Upon returning home, he began his career as an Electrician, first with his father and later in his own business, Nicosia Electric. Jack & Elaine raised their three children in Metairie. Upon retirement, he and Elaine moved to their farm in Robert, LA where they enjoyed the country life for 42 years. Jack loved caring for all his farm animals. Jack especially loved to fish with his sons & friends where he made great memories at their fishing camp in Port Eads. Jack was also an avid hunter & spent many years hunting deer and rabbits in the south with his boys. Jack is survived by his three children, John Nicholas Nicosia, Jr. (Becky), Lisa Nicosia Bonanno, Gary Peter Nicosia (Linda), four grandchildren, Lindsey Nicosia Staiger, John Nicholas Nicosia, III (Victoria), Courtney Elaine Nicosia & Monica Bonanno Bourgoyne (Brad). Two great-grandchildren, Madison Rose Staiger & Conor Samuel Bourgoyne and his youngest brother Thomas “Tommy” Nicosia. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Carrie Mae Kolb Nicosia, siblings Edward Nicosia, Joseph “Lee” Nicosia and Joan Nicosia Haro, and his son-in-law Samuel Bonanno.

Due to Covid concerns, the family is holding a private Memorial Mass on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at St. Anselm Catholic Church 306 St. Mary Street Madisonville, LA 70447 at 12 noon, with visitation from 10:30 a.m.
