John Edward Brakel passed away at home on Thursday, March 31, 2016. He was 76 years old. He was born in New Orleans, LA and was a resident of Slidell, LA for the past 28 years. Husband of Marion T. Jones Brakel. Father of Sherry A. Brakel Tassin (Rickey), John T. Brakel (Beth) and Steven J. Brakel (Laura). Grandfather of Taylor J. Tassin, John M. Brakel and Daniel J. Brakel. Brother of George G. Brakel (Jimmie Lou) and Robert M. Brakel (Karen). Son of the late John G. Brakel and Evelyn R. Passmore Brakel. Also survived by many Nieces and Nephews. Mr. Brakel retired from the United States Army Corps of Engineers. The Family would like to thank Hospice Compasses for all that they have done and especially his nurse Mindy and his aid Reyna for taking such good care of him in his final days. A Memorial Service will be held later just for the Family.
