Sunrise and Sunset
**Jan. 30th, 1963 to Dec. 7th, 2024**
Jimmie was an resident of Slidell, LA and was born to parents Jimmie Rogers Sr. and Emelia “Mickey” Jeandron (Rogers) on January 30th, 1963. He was the third of four children and the only little boy—his mama’s “little boy blue.” His sisters Rhonda Rogers Allemond, Tammie Rogers Gros, and Debbie Rogers will find peace knowing that Mama and Blue are together again.
He married his high school sweetheart, Teresa (Teri) Rogers, and had two, might I say, AMAZING kids—Tara Rogers (Alisa Lewis) and Jimmie (Tre) Rogers III (Fayrene Rogers). He was the very proud pawpaw of KayLee, Trevor, Lydia, Robbie, Abel, and Bella. Later in life, he and Teri separated, and Jimmie was married to Ann Rogers for 10 years, stepdad to Cortni and Adam. He left behind many nieces, nephews, and godchildren that will forever miss him.
Jimmie had a deep love for his family and friends. He never met a stranger and always had a helping hand out to anyone in need. He was so giving and soft-hearted. He loved taking photos of sunsets, nature, and the moon, a passion that was passed down to his children. At the age of 19, Jimmie worked hard and received his captain's license to become Capt. J.R. Jimmie worked 41 years of his life on the river and at the time he received his captain's license, he was the youngest captain on the river at 19 years old. He had the highest awards you can have in safety, and he used to teach safety for Artco. If you think about Jimmie, you’re going to think about fishing with him on the pier, boating around Lake Pontchartrain, having crawfish boils, going crabbing, “Boudreaux and Thibodeaux” jokes, and just having a good time. How do you put into words how much this man meant to so many? I know that all who loved him, he loved back fiercely and oh so deeply. He always worried he wasn’t doing enough; all he wanted was peace and happiness for his loved ones. Make family, family again. Life’s short, time waits for no one. Say "I love you," hug each other a little longer.
May you finally have peace, Dad. I love you all the sky.
