On Tuesday, November 20, 2018 Jerry Champagne 69 of Slidell, LA passed away peacefully at home with his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Pamela Bruney Champagne, 2 daughters Dawn Champagne and Shannon Champagne Ubas (Patrick), 3 grandchildren Patrick Ubas Jr. (Sidney Miller), Kylei Ubas, and Madison Donovan. Jerry was born on December 20, 1948 in New Orleans, LA to his parents the late John and Blanche Champagne. He was also survived by his sisters Ramona Champagne Protti (Bill), Rebecca Champagne Dingler (Charles) and brother John Champagne (Sharon) and many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Jerry was retired from Southern Pacific Rail Road and a U.S. Army Veteran. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Many years and fun times was spent in Gloster, Mississippi as he would call it “God’s Country”. No deer was safe when he was around that’s for sure. In 2000 along with his wife they opened PJ’s House of Seafood. He loved cooking for his customers, and when he wasn’t cooking you could find him sitting out front chatting with the many loyal customers. After Hurricane Katrina he moved to Tennessee. While there he joined a photography club. He enjoyed going to Cades Cove capturing some of the most beautiful pictures of the wild life and the mountains. He always loved spending time with family and friends weather it was going on cruises, trips to the casino, crawfish boils, BBQ’s and of course Nascar, LSU and Saints games. He was a proud Father and Grandpa (Poppy). He never met a stranger, he was kind and compassionate and was always doing for others. His is loved and will be greatly missed.
