Jeannette Ann Lewis Babin

Jeannette Ann Lewis Babin, 81, of Slidell, LA, passed away on June 24, 2024.

Jeannette was born on July 22, 1942 to the late Lester Pete Lewis and Rose Ann Decareaux Whelan in New Orleans, Louisiana on the Westbank.

Jeannette married her high school sweetheart Gene Christie Babin and they were married for 54 years until his death. She is also survived by her son Guy Christopher Babin and two grandchildren Gabrielle Christine Babin and Margaret Marie Babin.

Jeannette is also survived by her siblings Lester J. Lewis (Laura), Darnell Whelan Wemhomer (Ron), Gale Whelan Hebert, Peggy Whelan, Scottie Lewis (Shebbie), Dianne Lewis Sehmi (Sammy), Pete Lewis (Martha), and close cousin Patricia Sons Hall.

She is preceded in death by her step-father John Joseph “Pete” Whelan and step-mother Edna Marie Carter Lewis as well as her sister Jerry Lynne (Susie) Lewis Cochran, brother-in-law Eugene Hebert, and cousin-in-law John Hall.

Jeannette worked many years for Starc of Louisiana. They helped people with disabilities. In her off time, she loved playing competitive sports. Especially tennis, baseball, volleyball, & bowling. She also enjoyed vacations with 4 of her favorite girlfriends & they called themselves the Golden Girls.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the following charities Alzheimer's Association, Starc of Louisiana, and the St. Tammany Humane Society.
