Jason Anthony Waller (Corporal USMC) was born August 1, 1984, to Lisa Bourg Waller in Metairie, LA. , and was the adopted son of Rex Waller. He attended elementary school in Metairie and Mandeville. He attended Mandeville Middle School, Fontainebleau Junior High School, and graduated in 2003 from Fontainebleau High School. Jason was a fun-loving guy and had many friends. He enjoyed karate, ROTC, working and hanging out with his family and friends.
After high school graduation, Jason enlisted in the United States Marine Corps serving on active duty from 2003-2007 with the 1 st Battalion, 3 rd Marines. While in the USMC Jason was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, and Hawaii. He served one combat tour in Iraq in 2004 during the Battle of Fallujah. He also served in Afghanistan in 2006. He received the following awards: Combat Action Ribbon, Iraq, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Afghanistan, Iraq Campaign Medal, Iraq, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Unit Commendation, Certificate of Appreciation, Rifle Marksman Badge, and Pistol Marksman Badge. He was honorably discharged in 2007.
After returning home to Mandeville, LA, Jason entered college at Southeastern Louisiana University where he was working on completing a degree in criminal justice. Jason worked while attending school and recently held positions at Florida Parish Juvenile Detention Center and Pelican Athletic Club. Jason enjoyed the outdoors, hanging out with his family and friends, watching movies, war history, and the Ninja Turtles.
Jason was known for making friends with everyone he met. He had a zest for fun and adventure and could make everyone around him laugh. He was a loyal friend and family member who would do anything to help out someone in need. He had a great heart and smile that lit up the room with a sense of mischief behind it.
Jason is survived by his loving parents, Lisa and Rex Waller, brother, John Waller, and sister, Angelle Waller, Mandeville, La; sisters, Dana and Kristen Bertot, Metairie, LA; Aunts and Uncles: Dawn and Jeff Lueck, Winona, MN; Carol and Mike Quintini, Metairie, LA; Gloria Sell, Harahan, LA; Al and Linda Borja, River Ridge, LA; Donald and Dottie Borja, LaPlace, LA; several cousins: Justine(Matt) Commerford, William Lueck, Thomas Lueck, Bridgett Borja, Christine Borja, Michele (John) Morrelo, Henry (Vicky) Borja, Tiffeney Borja, Stephanie Borja, Donald Borja, Jr., Tammy (Aldo)Leon, Brian (Charla) Villneurve, Adaline (Gary) Rutherford, Patrick (Sandra) Villneurve, Sherie (David) Cedotal, Faith (Jacob) Taylor, Jeremy (Taylor) Quintini, and David (Stephanie) Quintini.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Paul Bourg; maternal grandmother, Jerine Bourg; paternal grandfather, John Waller; maternal grandmother, Donna Waller; and maternal uncle, Henry Borja.
A celebration of Jason’s life will be Saturday, April 23 rd at Bagnell and Son Funeral Home, 75212 Lee Road, Covington, LA. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. The service celebration will begin at 12:00 p.m. Please join us for a memorial gathering directly following the service at the Lacombe VFW Club, 28000 Main Street, Lacombe, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be directed to the Lacombe VFW Post 8290, 28000 Main Street, Lacombe, LA, 70445.
