James Leroy McConnell

James, a resident of Chalmette, LA passed away on June 8, 2023 at the age of 90 at the VA Hospital. James was born on January 29, 1933 in W. Sunbury, PA to Harvey and Edith McConnell. James served in the United States Air Force and the United States Army in which he was stationed in Germany and he was also a mechanic. After returning back to the United States James was then stationed at Stallion Army Airfield in Socorro County, Socorro, New Mexico as a (MP) military police officer which also serves White Sands Missile Range outside of Las Cruces, New Mexico. After the military, James joined the Sheriff’s Department. He enjoyed being out on the Shrimp boat with friends.

James is survived by his four children, three daughters Kathy Schnell, of Hayden Lake, ID, Kaye Balk of Post Falls, ID, Christina Lessau of Las Cruces, New Mexico and his son Jimmy Lessau of Deming, New Mexico. His two sisters Janet Beier, Panama City, FL Carol Currie of Fenelton, PA

James is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren with one on the way this year, also numerous nieces and nephews. 

James was preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Edith McConnell and his brothers Charles and Kenneth McConnell. 

Honoring James wishes, Cremation has taken place and no funeral services will be held. Funeral arrangement is being handled by Bagnell and Son Funeral Home, Covington, LA. Burial will be held at a later date.
