James Alan Lonardo, 56, passed away on October 31, 2024, leaving behind a lifetime of laughter, love, and unforgettable moments.
James is survived by his pride and joy, his son Clayton Lonardo (Harley). If you knew James, you knew how much he adored Clayton, coaching him in his younger years and cheering him on through high school football and basketball were some of the best times of his life. He never missed an opportunity to say how proud he was.
He is also survived by his parents, Geralyn Wells (Steven), Jimmy Taylor (Marcy), and many other family and friends who held a special place in James’s heart. Additionally, he shared a unique bond with his former spouse, but forever friend, Terra Frey Lonardo, and her father Jimmy Frey (Edmay), who went above and beyond to care for James during difficult times, showing the true meaning of family and compassion.
He is now reunited with his uncle, Kevin Liggett, who was deeply missed. Kevin’s memory lives on through his wife, Evelyn Liggett, and their children, just as James’s memory will through all of us.
James had a lifelong love with sports, especially his Texas Longhorns. So much so, James named Clayton’s All Star Baseball Team, “The Longhorns.”
James was the guy who could make anyone laugh, even on the toughest days. He had a knack for turning an ordinary moment into a memory you’d never forget. Whether it was a quick joke, that smile, or one of his stories, James knew how to keep everyone around him smiling.
To honor James, his family invites everyone to a celebration of his life at 12:00 Noon on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at the Knights of Columbus Hall located at 2107 Paris Rd. Chalmette, Louisiana. And in true James fashion, the family would love you to sport some burnt orange because nothing says “Hook ‘em Horns” quite like that.
James may be gone, but his laughter, love, and larger-than-life personality will stay with us forever. Rest easy, James. You will be missed dearly.
