James "Jimbo" Robert Williams

August 30, 1965 — May 24, 2023

Covington

James “Jimbo” Robert Williams was born on August 30, 1965 in Bogalusa, Louisiana and passed peacefully in his home in Covington, Louisiana on May 24, 2023.  He was called home way too young.  Prior to his passing he was surrounded by the love of his family and many close friends.  He was a fighter and battled through many difficult illnesses over the last several years.

Jimbo was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, son-in-law, brother-in-law, and friend.  He always worked hard to support his family and was willing to help anyone who was in need.  He loved his wife and his two children more than any words could ever explain and never hesitated to tell them everyday.  He lived his life to the fullest- hunting, fishing, farming, working on projects in his shop, and spending time with his family and friends.  No matter what he was doing he always had music playing and he was singing along.  He never met a stranger.  He was always kind, caring, and full of laughter.  His laugh was infectious, anytime you would hear it, you couldn’t help but laugh along with him.  He was one of the best story tellers, of course he would always add his embellishments.  Jimbo had more quotes than anyone and life with him was an adventure, never a dull moment.  He was so proud of all of his accomplishments throughout his short life.

Jimbo was a devoted employee of St. Tammany Parish School Board for 30 plus years and retired as the Director of Maintenance and Custodial Services on 6/28/2019.  He always did his best to accommodate everyone he came in contact with.  He made many new friends while working with the school board and remained friends with them until his passing.

Jimbo was a proud veteran who served in the Louisiana National Guard for four years (9/1982 to 5/1986) and the United States Air Force for two years (5/1986 to 8/1988).

Jimbo was preceded in death by his father, James O. Williams, his uncle Armett “Billy” Wascom, his aunt Brenda Wascom, and his uncle Joel “Joe” Jenkins.

Jimbo is survived by his loving wife, Jimmie Lee; his son Scott (Cheri); his daughter Jacie (Kathy); his granddaughters, Baylin and Breanne; his grandsons, Bryce and Isaiah; his sister, Moleta; his mother-in-law Blanche; his father-in-law Jimmy; his sister-in-law Barbara (Robert); his nephew Chris; his niece Brandi; and many close friends and family members.  Jimbo was so full of personality, he will be greatly missed by everyone, especially his wife.

A memorial service will be held at Bagnell & Son Funeral Home 75212 Lee Road, Covington, LA 70435 on Sunday, June 11, 2023 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm.  Visitation from 1:00- 3:30 pm with a service at 3:30 pm.  Guests are invited to dress casual and wear their favorite fishing or Hawaiian shirt in his honor, as we all know, Jimbo couldn’t stand wearing a suit and tie.
